PostgreSQL stores members, posts, comments, groups, and events with full text search indexes for instant content discovery. The feed algorithm surfaces recent and popular content using a scoring formula that weights recency, engagement, and the viewer's group memberships. Notifications dispatch through a fan out system: when someone posts in a group, all subscribed members receive a notification record and optionally an email digest via Resend. Image uploads go through presigned URLs to S3 compatible storage. The moderation queue uses content flagging thresholds: posts with multiple flags auto hide and appear in the admin review queue. Access control middleware checks membership tier on every route to enforce free, paid, and invite only boundaries.
