The Challenge
Indie founders and bootstrapped SaaS companies need to monitor Reddit for sales opportunities, competitor intelligence, and market signals. But manually scanning dozens of subreddits daily is unsustainable. Existing social listening tools are built for enterprise marketing teams, cost $500+/month, and do not understand the nuance of Reddit conversations or how to identify genuine buying intent versus casual discussion.
Our Approach
We built an AI-powered Reddit monitoring agent with three intelligence layers: buyer signal detection (people actively looking to purchase solutions), competitor alert tracking (mentions and sentiment about competing products), and idea signal scoring (pain points that represent market opportunities). The AI agent uses Claude to analyze Reddit posts and comments, scoring each for relevance and intent. Results are compiled into a daily brief delivered to the founder's inbox with direct links to the original discussions.

The Results
Key Takeaways
Reddit OAuth was the right auth strategy for this product. Users are already on Reddit, so authenticating with their Reddit account felt natural and gave us access to their subreddit subscriptions for personalized monitoring.
The AI scoring model needed training on real Reddit conversations to distinguish genuine buying intent from casual discussion. A post saying 'I need a CRM' scores very differently from 'CRMs are overpriced' even though both mention the keyword.
Daily email briefs with direct Reddit links generated higher engagement than a dashboard-only approach. Founders check email first, not dashboards.
