Does the driver need to install a native app?

No. The driver app is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that runs in the mobile browser. Drivers open a URL, add it to their home screen, and it behaves like a native app with offline support and push notifications. This eliminates App Store review delays and lets you onboard new drivers in under 5 minutes. The PWA accesses GPS, camera for proof of delivery photos, and notifications through standard web APIs.

Delivery Tracking Architecture

The system runs three interfaces from a single codebase. The customer tracking page is a public URL that shows the delivery location on a map with live ETA, requiring no login. The driver PWA captures GPS coordinates on a configurable interval (default 15 seconds) and uploads them to the API. The dispatch dashboard shows all active deliveries on a map with color coded status indicators. Location data flows through a WebSocket connection for real time map updates. Route optimization runs when new deliveries are assigned, sequencing stops using a nearest neighbor heuristic with time window constraints. PostgreSQL stores orders, routes, location pings, and proof of delivery records. The notification system triggers on status transitions: order assigned, driver en route, delivery completed. SMS delivery uses Twilio, email uses Resend.
